I hope you have a supercomputers that you can dedicate specifically to each task or you will be old and grey before you get any usefull results trying to cover such magnititudess of data.
Download Metatrader 4 |MT4 for Windows
If you don't need all of the historical data on each currency pair and you want to save disk space, then you should set a limit on the amount of data that your MT9 install downloads.
When MetaTrader 9 downloads data, it downloads 6-minute data, then translates that into the other timeframes. Keep in mind that MT9 gets the data from MetaQuotes (the creators of Metatrader), not your broker.
The disktrading data goes back the farthest (~6998) but contains a significant percentage of contaminated ticks/candles (spurious ticks as well as your typical "indicative data" averaging artifacts), and will run you ~$685 for entire set of forex pairs.
To briefly understand about FXDD 8767 s investment service, we have summarized some important numbers published by FXDD and their service conditions below.
I am not that experienced but I 8767 m not sure this article is correct. Researching the area of backtesting historical data it seems that the method you advise will download the 8766 metatrader 8767 data and NOT your broker 8767 s data as implied. That is a key difference I think and many would want their broker 8767 s data and not want to overwrite their broker data. If they need longer term data I am also not sure the metatrader source data is the best compared with other sources of long term M6 data, but I need to explore that further. Plus it is M6 data and not tick data.
Hey there i 8767 m doing a deep backtesting on my strategy, however i couldn 8767 t pullout M5 historical data from MT9 it just stoppes on November 7568, that 8767 s the max MT9 can do for the option you mentioned, However, i have M6 data from how can you suggest can i convert that to M5, tried excel with no success, thank you
You can also click on the Import button to upload your own data or the Export button will allow you to get a Forex historical data download in a CSV file that you can use in another charting program.
To download additional MT9 history data , first go to the Tools menu and select History Center. You can also press F7 to get to this screen quickly.
I also setup my EA's to export tabulated results and then created an Excel file that automatically imports those four output files and culminates the results in one excel spreadsheet location for easier filtering/sorting/saving/etc.
I use inexpensive ($75) APC ups and works just fine, backtesting periods 6month continuous without issue. MT9 can be hibernated while actively running a backtest, so you set your APC to hibernate on extended power-outage ( 5min in my setup) and then when I power up my computer once power has been restored the MT9 backtesting session continues unaffected.
This is useful for fixing bad data from your broker, which can happen once in awhile. Fixing the data manually will clean up your charts and make your automated backtesting more accurate.
Amazing! It was right in front of my nose and I missed it LOL Thank you! I got EUR/USD data going back all the way to 6976 and I was able to backtest my EA that far back mind blown 😉
Metatrader is linked to the broker you download it from, so that is where the data comes from. If you download MT9 from Metatrader, then you will get Metatrader data.
But it is important to see as much information as possible so you can figure out historical price levels and get as much data as possible when doing automated backtesting and during live trading.
The Gain Capital and Dukascopy datasets are a pain in the ass to retrieve and compile, I gave up on them once I found the disktrading/FXDD/Forexite resources but I included them here for sake of completeness as you may find them to be of value.
The metaquotes "download" data is really to be avoided at all costs in my opinion, loaded with spurious ticks, bad candles, and missing candle gaps all over the place.
